AGRICULTURE AND CLIMATE CHANGE IN INDIA
India is a large country with a diverse climate has diverse crops and farming systems. There is a high dependency of agriculture on the monsoon rains and a close link exists between climate and water resources. Two thirds of the area is rain dependent.
Saffron cultivation in Kashmir, rice-fish culture of China, Andean agriculture in Peru are all GIAHS. These are all evolved over the millennia in harsh and remote landscapes, thanks to the traditional knowledge of indigenous people.
