Traditional crops and new innovations are offering Himalayan region a way to deal with the challenges of climate change, but there is much work to be done for this to become a truly viable alternative.

India is a large country with a diverse climate has diverse crops and farming systems. There is a high dependency of agriculture on the monsoon rains and a close link exists between climate and water resources. Two thirds of the area is rain dependent.
